Mommy Time

I'm free!!!  Free of responsibility, free of making decisions, free to go to sleep when I want and wake up when I want.  For my birthday Kennedy and Barrett gave me a girl's trip to Dallas to see my bestie.  I was ready for some girl talk and relaxation.  Barrett and Kennedy were in SA for a wedding and so Barrett got a "little" help from Grammy and Pa.
I got in Thursday night and Megan had made dinner for us.  It was delicious.

The next day consisted of lunch and shopping with some of my favorite people.  Then Megan and I headed on to get manicures and pedicures.

The night was complete with a dinner with my girls.  We officially celebrated Gentry's birthday.

Saturday Megan and I laid out by the pool, a favorite past time.  Then it was off to dinner.

This picture is really blurry, but I wanted it documented that we did indeed take a picture.

The trip consisted of lots of laughing, going down memory lane, staying up late and sleeping until I wanted to wake up.  But, I have to say it also was the longest 3 days of my life....too long from my family.  I missed Kennedy so bad that I physically hurt and was so excited to get home.  I would not have made it without FaceTime, which I may or may not have used twice a day.  Maybe next time I will just be gone for a day or 2.  Until of course she is throwing tantrums and talking back, at which point I will leave for a week.

Splish splash

The Aquarium has a splash park  my mom and I took Kennedy to kick off summer after my last day of work.  Water, kids, outside....yep she loved it.

This was as good as we could get on the turtle because it was so bright.

This was her favorite part, spinning the starfish.

So, my mom wasn't even going to wear a bathing suit since we didn't expect to get wet.  But I was wearing one for sure since I knew I would be holding my wet baby.  This picture says it all, we were drenched.  We literally could not have been more wet if we jumped into a pool.  There are buckets above your hand that sporadically dump water and kids shooting big water guns.  We just kept laughing every time a bucket of water dumped on our head.  #1 we didn't know the facility as well to know where the dumping would occur #2 we were looking down the whole time at Kennedy so had no warning.  Pretty funny.

We made friends, Kennedy loves other kids.

I believe this face is because water just shot my butt

She liked kicking the water.

So I am "Ms. Prepared" and I have lots of sunscreen, extra shoes for me to wear so they would be dry, all Kennedy's items, lunch for Kennedy thawing in the car, even chew toys for her to chew on while playing.  But I forgot one very important item......

yep, my pants!  I changed Kennedy and was starting to change when I realize my pants are not in my bag.  Putting on my drenched shorts was not an option...so you guessed it, I walked out of the aquarium with my  head held high and a cool breeze on my backside.  The towel worked great as a temporary skirt.  I was hoping my shorts had fallen out in the car because mom and I had lunch plans...nope.  So we had to stop at a shell stop and mom had to buy me some shorts for double the price so we could eat.  I got home and my shorts were on the bathroom counter, convenient.

The friday of Memorial Day weekend, Barrett had off so Kennedy took her daddy to see her splash park. This time she loved walking through the spitting water and would just squeal with delight.

Out water camera had a water spot on it, but look how happy Kennedy is.

We are regulars at the Aquarium and sometimes go for a swim and sometimes to see the fish.

Toes in the sand

A Sunday afternoon at the beach.  Grammy was here to prepare for babysitting duties and got to be there for Kennedy's first trip to the beach.  We meet Tammy & Craig and their girls.  Kennedy loved it.  She loved the feeling of the sand, splashing in the water, the waves, and the birds.
She is just too cute in her tiny bikini thanks to Gentry.

Craig's parents were in town for Brooklyn's party and they brought homemade ice cream, yum!

The girls took turns holding "Baby Kennedy".  Although our camera battery died so we only got to document Brooklyn.

On Memorial Day we took Kennedy out to the beach again.  She lasted for 2 hours which is a feat for her at anything.

She LOVED walking in the water, our backs are perpetually sore.

Her first time to see horses and she didn't know what to think about them.  She loved seeing a group of pelicans fly over though.

Trying to keep this lil nugget in the shade as much as possible and momma in the sun as much as possible.

It was such a fun weekend.  Barrett got 4 days off since that was his Friday off and we enjoyed the time together as a family of 3.  We went to the aquarium and took Barrett to the splash park for the first time and the beach.  This girl had lots of fun in the sun.

Brooklyn's Party

Kennedy got to attend her first birthday party for our sweet friend's daughter Brooklyn.  She turned 2, which is unbelievable!  Kennedy was decked out in her sun gear and loved the water.  I think Barrett thought I was a little ridiculous putting her in the hat etc. but now that she already has a tan line in her fat rolls, I think he realizes how sensitive babies skin is.

Brylee and Brooklyn on the slip and slide.

These girls love "baby Kennedy" and are so sweet to her.

This is all Kennedy wants to do now, walk.

Birthday girl

Brylee who call us "Ms. Tada and B".  These girls LOVE their B.

Brooklyn

This picture sequence cracks me up.  Notice Brooklyn's hands on Kennedy's face.

Tammy in the background the whole time, "Brooklyn don't touch her face, no face".

Finally we got one with all the girls sort of looking.

Brooklyn with her daddy.

Bad shadows, but Brylee pretty much stayed with Kennedy the entire party.  She also ran inside and got this pink rubber duck for Kennedy to play with, such a sweet heart.

Barrett had run Beach to Bay that morning but made it in time for the party.  It was his first time to run with a team from work called "Environmental Cases" and I was so proud of him for making his goal and running a 7:22 mile for 5 miles.  Here is a picture in action.  I had romanticized the run and pictured Kennedy and I being able to watch him run....but the section he was on didn't allow for visitors to watch since it was on the base.

I love this picture!
