Sassy pants

I had to write down 2 funny stories that happened yesterday before I forget them.  First of all, Kennedy has recently learned how to tell the dogs "shhhh" when they bark.  Yesterday, I told Kennedy "no" and she turned around with her finger over her mouth and told me "shhhh"!  Really? I did not see that coming at 11 months.  I would say she didn't really know what it meant, but she is too smart, I am sure she was really telling me to be quiet.  She already does not know the "no" word.

That same morning she had a huge burp after her bottle and it made me laugh.  Then she kept continually fake burping.  We are raising such a lady.

10 months

How does every month get better?  Of course when I think back about past months those were the best too, so pretty much I will say like my moms says "every month is my favorite".  Kennedy Blair you are for sure our favorite and live it up because someday you will have a sibling that will share that title with you.  By the way, you do live it up and after our last vacation, you have the hardest time playing by yourself!

I feel like I always say this, but this month has brought on so many new tricks and skills.  In fact, when I look back just a month ago you look so much older and huge.  Drum roll please....you took your first 2 steps on Friday August 3, 2012 and momma and daddy were both there to witness them on video!  You were standing by yourself holding Annie's toy so Barrett decided to video since you were standing so well and then you decided to take 2 steps towards momma.  We were so proud!  The next day you took 3 steps by yourself and then wobbled and was able to balance and right yourself again, so proud of you.  We are looking forward to you growing in your confidence and starting to take over the house.

You are able to follow the following commands: "where is___", "turn off light", "give me___",

able to identify your toes, feet, hands, shirt, shoes, socks and other people's ears and noses, shirt, hair and mouth.  You blow kisses and give high fives but turn your head and shyly smile during high fives for some cute reason.  You have your second bottom tooth and look like you are able to get lots more.  You can stand alone for at least 20 seconds and are more comfortable walking with 1 hand assistance. 

You are starting to use your contact point to identify items in books (previously your would look at the objects).  You have added "duck" and "kack/quack" on your list of words and have started signing "drink" and "more".  You frequently say "Dada" now and will even label daddy in pictures around the house.  You like helping opening doors and walking steps.

You can now answer the question, "What does the monkey say?" and recently we discovered you know the word chapstick and smack your lips when you hear it.  You also snore when you hear the word "sleep".

These are pictures that I took of you for your upcoming 1st birthday party invitations (sad day for momma) and I am not going to sue use so decided I would share your cuteness here.

You are starting to self-feed and are eating more solids.  You have eaten and loved: strawberries, blueberries (had them pureed in baby food before), avocados, bananas, and cheese.  You LOVE cheese and can not shovel it fast enough in your mouth.  Really, you love eating and love self-feeding.  Such a big girl.

In between Houston trips, Kennedy and I followed Blachel back to SA while Barrett had to go back to CC to work.  Blake and Rachel only stayed one night before they headed back the next am at 6 for work.  Kennedy continued to be spoiled.

It was hot but actually cooler than usual for July so we were very grateful.

Our second weekend in a row to head to Houston.  Kennedy and I headed up with Grammy and Pa from SA and Barrett met us right before the wedding Friday.  The wedding was beautiful.

How blessed are we to see so much family this summer?  We don't get too comfortable at home and then it is time to hit the road again.  We headed to Houston for my Uncle Clinton's wedding.  We were so excited because Blake and Rachel got to come down for it as well.  Here are some pictures of the rehearsal Friday night.

It was so hot because they did not have the venue air turned on until we got there.  Notice Kyle hogging all the air to the right.

 Kennedy knows a sucker when she sees one.  Everyone got a turn walking her around...and around.....and around.

Kennedy was a trooper!  Her bedtime is at 7-7:30 and poor baby did not get to go to bed until 9:00 or later that weekend and she did great.  

 Apparently everyone was too busy to take pictures at the actual wedding because I have none and I think my mom had 1.  

The wedding was beautiful and it was wonderful to hang out with family.  Our hotel was super nice and had a lake to walk around in the morning.  Kennedy loved the morning walks and seeing dogs, runners, ducks, and boats.
On a side note: notice the amount of food my mom had in our hotel room when we arrived.  Pretty nice to have an assortment of our favorite cookies, snacks, and a fully stocked fridge with our favorite beverages.  Kennedy even got a present for the trip: water toys and yogurt melts.  Thanks for helping my cause of losing my last baby weight mom.

Sunday we left Sugar Land and headed to Spring to see the Cunningham side of the family because Rachel wasn't able to get off for Dan's wedding and Blake wanted to see Grandma and Grandpa.
It was an hour drive to Spring and Kennedy of course fell asleep 15 minutes from Uncle Tommy's and Aunt Amy's house.  We got to hang out a while and then everyone went to see Grandma and Grandpa. Barrett, Kennedy, me, nor Aunt Amy went to the nursing home because Grandma had been feeling ill and there was a stomach bug we didn't want Kennedy to get exposed to.  Later we met Dan and Stacey for lunch and then headed on to Bastrop.

Mom and dad had planned a special trip to the Lost Pines Resort in Bastrop and it was so nice.  Complete with killer rooms, beautiful scenery, pools, and a lazy river.

Food at the resort was expensive, so upon Rachel's request we headed into town for some chips and hot sauce!  This is what they allowed our daughter to do....I wonder why she was upset when she had to sit in her high chair?

Sor Bar!  This picture has to be documented.  It was past Kennedy's bedtime and I was trying to take a daughter/daddy shot.  Kennedy was actually whining in this picture but it looks like a sweet smile, but the picture is ruined because of Barrett.  Good one babe.

Kennedy has always held on to my hand during nursing or during her bottle and it is precious.  What am I going to do when she gets her milk from a sippy cup?  I think that is a valid argument to keep her in a bottle, you're welcome future orthodontist.

First morning early walk.  Kennedy does not sleep well in pack-n-plays so we got the resort to bring us a crib with a thick mattress and I was so excited to get some sleep.....nope!  The crib was really small and she would move around and wake up crying with one arm out the crib and her leg out another section of the crib (she is too long).  So, again every night she ended up in bed with us while we traded who stayed awake all night.  This particular morning once of us had gotten 2-3 hours while the other had gotten 0.  Awww, vacation with a baby.

One dinner request down, now it was Barrett's turn and it is no surprise the man wanted Bar-B-Que.  He looked up on the internet and found the highest rated joint, called and they were about to close but said they would stay open for us.  Too funny because it was outdoor seating and first impressions....well just take a look for yourself.

The food was very tasty and we all enjoyed the experience, except for the 3 cats constantly at our feet.  For a family highly allergic to cats, we were constantly raising our feet and kicking to keep them away from us.

Kennedy and Grammy enjoyed the flowers.  I am so glad Kennedy looked so cute at this fine dinning experience.

Later that night, Rachel and I had to watch the bachelorette finally and the boys were super excited.
